Offices & Centers

Florida International University has multiple divisions within the university as well as partnerships in varying academic disciplines.

Our aim is to promote engagement throughout South Florida.

The Office of Career Services facilitates and provides access to paid and unpaid internships and employment opportunities for students with local, national and global employers

The Office of Multicultural Programs and Services provides a wide breadth of culturally enriching events for FIU and the South Florida community.

The Center for Leadership and Service provides students with developmental and experiential opportunities that foster leadership and community involvement through leadership education, service learning, advocacy and volunteerism.

The Applied Research Center harnesses FIU’s applied research and technology base to solve real-world problems through multidisciplinary collaborations with researchers, academia, government, private sector and industry partners.

The Metropolitan Center in the School of International and Public Affairs delivers information and expertise to decision makers, community leaders and citizens of South Florida as they seek to forge solutions to urban problems.

The Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center in the College of Business Administration works with emerging companies to develop entrepreneurial leaders and improve the economic vitality of South Florida and the Americas.

The Center for Diversity in the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences offers multiple educational programs such as tutoring, teacher training, mentorship, career and college awareness seminars, research experiences and internship opportunities targeting local K-16 grade-level students to increase gender and racial/ethnic diversity and foster greater social mobility for students.

A variety of in-house clinics in the College of Law, including the Carlos Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, Family and Children Advocacy Clinic, and Immigrant Children’s Justice Clinic, provide access to legal advice and assistance to indigent and underserved clients in the South Florida community.

The Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Research in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management provides educational and research opportunities including certificate programs, symposia, roundtables, travel experiences and other interactive events that link the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management to students and members of the hospitality, tourism and travel communities at the local, state, national and international levels.

The Office of Global Learning Initiatives facilitates the development, design and implementation of Global Learning courses and coordinates with the Division of Student Affairs for the integration of student co-curricular activities in the courses.

The Center for Leadership in the College of Business Administration conducts cutting-edge research in the area of leadership development and develops and delivers innovative leadership programs assisting organizations in our community and beyond.

The South Florida News Service provides unparalleled opportunities for students studying print, video and multimedia journalism to work with editors of South Florida’s three daily newspapers as part of a novel, content-sharing system that allows participating students to get their stories published in print and online.

NeighborhoodHELP™, features interdisciplinary teams of FIU students working with families to track and monitor their health. Each team works with 1-2 households and includes a medical student and his or her counterpart in social work, nursing and public health. College of Medicine leaders are not aware of any other program in the country that offers students the opportunity to follow households for four yearsin their homes, providing unedited glimpses into the lives of the uninsured and under-insured.
